Night Texture Help

Postby brittair » Wed Oct 06, 2004 8:48 am

???I think I am missing something when it comes to night textures using FSDSv2.  Briefly, I created a hanger in FSDS and applied textures (day) and created a macro from this model and used FSSC to place it and it turns up fine.

So now I want to have different textures for the night.  I altered the original (day) texture and added '_lm' to the file name.  I added this texture to the texture list and marked it night.  But how do I tell FSDS to use this only at night and apply it to the surfaces of the model without overwriting the day textures??

I am sure this is real basic but I am stuck, Any help really appreciated.

I not sure about FSDS but in gmax you have two copies of both the building and the textures one for night & one for day. With Gmax you can use save as and add the_lm at the end to make it for night.
But not sure if this applies in FSDS. 8)
You apply the day texture to the day building
and the night texture to the night building

Don't add the texture to the texture list.  Select the texture in question, click edit, then check the night box.

Thanks garymbuska and andyjohnson.  This makes sense but it raises another question.  If you convert each of the day and night building into macros to place them with FSSC, do you place in the same place and one will appear during the day and the other at night?

That is what I did with GMAX.
FS uses one for day and the other for night. But as I said I do not know if you have to do this with FSDS.
It might be different.

No...no...no.........

One object.  That's all you make.  Apply the day texture, then follow the procedure I outlined.

It will automatically transition between day and night.
