Is it like any other update (exe) or do you have to do something magical?
And can you change the BIOS to a different one?
Most, if not all, is Flash BIOS these days and it usually consists of looking up your particular BIOS manufacturer for any updated versions, and READING what the newer version will do. In some cases updating could render a system useless. After that it's usually as simple as downloading and running an executable file followed by a reboot. You may have to run it from a CD/DVD or floppy disk.
I'm curious, why do you want to update BIOS? Just because?
YMMB, trust me, don't, DON'T touch the BIOS, unless your parents don't mind forking out cash for a new mobo.
List of things not to touch on your comp until you become an IT expert:
~ BIOS
~ Registry
~ Overclocking of parts
You must understand what you are doing!
Trust me, there is NO easy, safe way to OC. OCing takes hours of studying how the component runs with the new clock settings, and making sure it isn't overheating.
I actually blew my 6800 GPO after I clocked the core bus and memory bus values, and raised them slightly above factory. AA and AF now cause an almost irreparable black screen on boot up.
Don't touch it, as the posts above have stated, you will be better off than you were before.
