How to update BIOS?

Is it like any other update (exe) or do you have to do something magical?

And can you change the BIOS to a different one?

Most, if not all, is Flash BIOS these days and it usually consists of looking up your particular BIOS manufacturer for any updated versions, and READING what the newer version will do. In some cases updating could render a system useless. After that it's usually as simple as downloading and running an executible file follwed by a reboot. You may have to run it from a CD/DVD or floppy disk.
I'm curious, why do you want to update BIOS? Just because?

Two things you need to know about updating your BIOS.
1) BE CAREFULL! Flashing your system with the wrong BIOS files can make the machine useless.
2) Unless you are having a specific problem , that the BIOS version you want to upgrade to will fix, it's best just to leave it alone. If you aren't having any problems, why risk it?

If you decide that you absolutely can not live with out the latest BIOS update, you'll need to check with the maker of your mobo. ONLY use the BIOS flash that THEY suggest, and ONLY use the one that is meant for your specific board.

Most motherboard makers have made the process of updating your BIOS as simple and fool-proof as they can, but DO-DO does happen!

I was just wondering and i would of like an easy OC BIOS, like some with ask you... How many MHz would like to increase your CPU by but I'll do it old fashion

..the general opinion is that if your present system is running without problems, leave your existing BIOS as it is!......!

I have always considered it much too dangerous to attempt!....

..getting it wrong can result in a useless Motherboard!... ...!

YMMB, trust me, don't, DON'T touch the BIOS, unless your parents don't mind forking out cash for a new mobo.

List of things not to touch on your comp until you become an IT expert:

~ BIOS

~ Registry

~ Overclocking of parts

You must understand what you are doing!

Trust me, there is NO easy, safe way to OC. OCing takes hours of studying how the component runs with the new clock settings, and making sure it isn't overheating.

I actually blew my 6800 GPO after I clocked the core bus and memory bus values, and raised them slightly above factory. AA and AF now cause an almost irreparable black screen on boot up.

Don't touch it, as the posts above have stated, you will be better off than you were before.

And the only thing i've overclocked is my screen It counts if you change the refresh rate. ( it's in factory limits )
