I've got both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer on my desktop.
I use IE to browse SimV, and post in the Forum, for the reason that I find Firefox has a rather strange text editor, in that the cursor appears directly over the characters, masking them, (rather than in front of the character, as in a normal text editor), also any smilies must be inserted during the process of typing the text.
They cannot be inserted after the text has been completed, (they only appear at the end of the text.
Internet Explorer uses an excellent text editor where additions and deletions can be performed anywhere in the text..!
Firefox is superb for logging onto sites where IE displays the annoying message...>>>

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
...etc...etc...

Does anyone know why Internet Explorer does this...?
Someone mentioned that it is due to the use of "Active X" controls by IE.
...so what is "Active X", and can IE be modified to overcome the problem...?
Many thanks...

Cheers all...

Paul....Weather's getting colder. Winter's on it's way...

P.S. I still find that Firefox is MUCH slower to download pages than Internet Explorer....(56k modem)...
