The problem with modern video cards is they are being developed faster than the motherboard technolgy and many modern games need that updated support as well.
The end of this year/beginning of next will dawn a new age for video and game technology. With the motherboards finally catching up to the video cards, what you have seen in the video card PR's will take a huge leap, like it did when the 9800 pro was released but much, much higher. Given the video core will now be in direct communication with each CPU core, and will also be able to do CPU calculation on the GPU at the same time, what you understand as video technology is about to completely change.
With that, titles like FSX which were designed for that innovation (they do get the inside scoop on what is coming and develop for it) will then start to see the hardware they were created to be run on.
FSX has 10 times the code being sent to the system for processing. With the new supporting motherboard systems and video cores, we will start to see more than 20-30% that code getting processed as it is today.
