Part 2 of a trip around the Herefordshire Countryside.

Part 1 was the journey from Hereford City site of the old WW2 Munitions Factory (now a large trading estate) to Holme Lacy Village.
Part 2 continues the journey from Holme Lacy, crossing the River Wye, through Mordiford Village, Dormington, Lugwardine and the River Lugg, and back to Hereford City again.

A delightful two part tour on my 1983 Yamaha RX-S 100, 98cc, 2-stroke motorcycle!

I'll tell you what, Tug.... ;) ....

The seat and conventional riding position on my Yamaha RX-S 100, 2-stroke, is much more comfortable than the seat and riding position on my Honda "Cruiser"...!

One of the reasons why I went for a "Cruiser" motorcycle, as an alternative to all my previous "Standard" motorcycles, is due to observing Bikers travelling vast distances on their Harley Davidson Street Glides, Road Glides, etc, in "apparent" comfort!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Types_of_motorcycles

...Big Mistake!...

I am crippled by the uncomfortable solo cruiser seat putting all my weight on the bottom of my spine, causing constant pain and numbness,....
....and the forward foot-pegs preventing me from taking my weight on my legs and feet, as is the case with centre mounted foot-pegs.
The high, hangar/ape handlebars drain the blood from my arms and hands, and constantly grappling for the forward mounted Gear-change and Foot Brake levers, drives me mad!

I love the look of my Cruiser with all its shiny chrome, but unless I fork-out £80+ for an inflatable Air Hawk-type seat cover, I wont be travelling anywhere far!

There are times when a "BMW type" Sport-Touring type of motorcycle makes more sense for long distance travel!
...the problem for me, (5ft-7ins) they are seated too high for a secure footing.

For a sensible riding position, my naked, 1994 Honda CB500RR twin, and naked, classic 1983 Yamaha RX-S 100, 2-stroke single, bikes, make much more sense regarding travelling comfort!

Harley Davidson/Indian, etc, Cruisers are a way of life, and one must be prepared to suffer the consequences when it comes to riding comfort!.... ....!

I'm with you Fozz. I could never understand how anyone could ride a machine leaning back, feet forward in such an uncomfortable position. I did try a Yamaha 550 once, and decided that the seating position defies all semblance of comfort and safety. However, that's my humble opinion. I have since looked at and tried aSuzuki Burgman and a Honda Silverwing as alternatives and been pleasantly surprised. These large wheeled super scooters have both power and comfort, just a pity they are so big, like 500lb, even. Maybe, one day soon, maybe.

Hello Log...!

You will remember our Rifleman, Ken, and his wife Wendy, both Sim V members from way back, from Vancouver, BC!

Ken rides a Suzuki Bandit, and Wendy loves riding her Suzuki Burgman (scooter), big and comfortable!
(Ken has posted some photos in this Forum thread showing both bikes, etc!).

That "scooter" makes a lot of sense in all sorts of ways: Comfort, weather protection, luggage carrying capacity, etc....!

It may not look cool....but its probably very sensible!

Very enjoyable Fozzer.

I must be stone blind, because it still looks ultra clean to me.If that was Australia
the roadsides would be littered with tons of broken beer bottles. Not to mention other crap.

I think Australian cities and towns are for the most part, cess pits. :naughty:

I was watching some videos the other day and European cities are
so much cleaner.A trip down the west coast of Ireland and no trash
in sight.

Anthin.
Keep up the videos Fozzer.

Just to put the record straight. I'm not denying that the streets in Paul's videos are clean & tidy, just as they are in my home town.
I was disagreeing with his comment that "It seems to come natural to we English folks to keep the place clean and tidy .............".

This might have been true years ago. When I was young we were taught to take our rubbish home if no bins were available & most people did just that. Remember the "Keep Britain Tidy" campaign? Unfortunately attitudes have changed since then & a lot of people simply drop their rubbish where they are & expect someone else to clear up after them. I have even found empty drinks cans & bottles in my front garden. I often wonder what these people are like at home.

One of my pet hates is people spitting out chewing gum on the pavements instead of disposing of it responsibly. This is almost impossible to clean up, even with expensive machinery & ruins the appearance of our town centres.

You really said " May not look cool "...? Wow.....you may be hearing from her if she gets wind of this..... we did get out for a ride just this morning and came on here to post a few pics for your viewing pleasure, but reading how you have slurred her machine, I fear for virtual presence.......Run...........

....so after me mentioning the situation, she tried to come and take a run at you, but, alas you are safe......she has forgotten her old password to get on the site and gave up her quest to defend her beloved Burgman ! You are Safe my friend !

One more thing.....we are not on the mainland where Vancouver is. Our little paradise is called Vancouver Island and we are in the area of the Comox Valley - specifically the Town of Courtenay, although it is referred to as a city....:-)

Hello Ken and Wendy!... ....!

Many thanks for popping into our little corner again!

Sorry about the Burgman.... ....

Give Wendy a bug hug from me, and tell her I am very sorry for my disparaging remarks (cool) about her beloved Suzuki Scooter, I was having one of my regular brain farts, again!..... .... ...!

Some lovely photographs, as usual, Ken...
The one which instantly caught my eye was the beautiful Harley-Davidson W45 Flahead!
The simplest of all the old Harley Vee-Twins; Knucklehead, Shovelhead and Panhead, with its side-valve arrangement, and also the easiest to kick-start with its low compression engine...
...and not forgetting the heavenly, narrow-angle, 45 degree, forked con-rod, vee-twin exhaust sound at very slow tick-over!
Nothing else compares...trust me!.... :D ...!
He/she must be a very proud owner!

A typical Harley Flathead ride! Hand gear-change, and foot clutch!...>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihftTvaWbd8

Good to see that you both are getting out and about on your bikes, regardless of the weather. It must get quite cold in BC every now and again!

Its supposed to be Summer-time here in England (remember England?.... ;) ....), but the weather is miserable, as usual, and spoiling my videoed bike rides!.
Its no fun when the weather isn't "nice"... :( ...!

Yesterday, Sunday, was supposed to be a ride out for me to Abergavenny, to meet up with all the bikers again, but it was blowing a blustery gale, with a threat of rain, so I stayed in, and watched the usual You-Tube videos (showing below) of motorcycle tours through the scenic areas of the USA!

Monday is yet another dull, miserable day, but I may pluck up the courage for a little tour of the countryside later in the day.

In the meantime, its breakfast time; Scott's Porridge Oats...and Tetley Tea... :D ...!

Sunday, yesterday, was the usual dull, depressing English day, and no good for a Bike ride here....

..so, instead, I accompanied three Chaps on their Harley Davidson Road Glides and Indian Chief motorcycles, on a 6-day tour of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, amongst some glorious, breath-taking scenery, in sunshine and lovely hot temperatures!

The sort of journey I can only dream about in England!

Come join us!... :D ....>>>>

Egg Tagliatelle; with Olive oil, Onion, Garlic, Tomato, Basil, ground Black Pepper, and melted Cheddar Cheese...>>>

And onto....

A wonderful video trip with lots of laughs along the way!

I find the Fat Boy a far better bike to ride than the CBR 1000 RR. No more pain in the neck from having to hold my head up at an unusual angle and no more hands going numb from leaning forward constantly on the handle bars. Sitting up straight is far better for me but I do know what you mean about the pressure on the tail bone from the seating position. I generally only do short runs of 200 or 300 k so I don't find it too bad. I have only scraped the foot boards a few times as I now know how far she will go without dragging
