I was wondering "Why build a 90% replica"?

And then I read this -

"The Spitfire produced by Enstone Flying Club burns 38 litres of fuel an hour, rather than the original Spitfire which used four and half litres a minute."

38 litres of fuel an hour vs 270 per hour! :o

Ahh yes, the Mk.26 or as it is known amongst fans, the joke. Its a bit like saying your Nissan Micra is a Lamborghini because you've pull a sticker with a bull on your car.
I don't take them too seriously I'm afraid...

Yes, it is a kit that has been in production now for several years, produced in New Zealand if memory serves. Typical Daily Fail headline, they can't have one without sexing it up all the time.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

You might find this interesting. http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/engineering/TADs/324%20SUPERMARINE%20SPITFIRE%20MK26.pdf

If memory serves me correctly the UK Mk 26 prototype was once based at Shoreham Airport.
