Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow... :violin:

Oh come on folks, where is that Winter enthusiasm?... :?:

My goodness, I see lots of snowmobiles and snowmobiles pulling folks on snow skis, toboggan's and sleds out on the river and the bay.

There were six ice boats under full sail on the bay yesterday.

We watched Sunday as the children and parents cleared the snow off a large smooth section of the river and had a good game of pond hockey.
Now that sure beats sitting around and turning into a winter couch potato... :P

I am laid up with a left foot that seems to be taking a long time to heal so I can't get up to the bugsmasher field to enjoy some flying off the snow covered grass strip in the Piper Super Cub and American Champion Citabria both on wheel/skis that a couple of Flying Farmers own.
They like to take me flying for a couple of good tall tales and we buzz the ice fishing huts and snowmobilers...

Full Ski Down and enough power to keep the tail up while moving over a frozen body of water, seeing the snow and ice blow past, hearing the snow and ice bounce off the fabric and feeling the vibrations flow through the aircraft as you apply Take Off Power for another Go Around...Wow...what a thrill... ;)

If you have not flown off Floats, Amphibious Floats, Wheels/Skis or Skis then get out there and purchase an hour or more with an Instructor. You are missing so much...believe me.

Unless you have a Motion Simulator your Desk Top Unit can not simulate the thrill and feeling of real aviating.

Now me thinks I shall ask the Old Girl if I can put the Christmas Tree back up...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I get confussed!.... :o ...!

Just been Google Satellite mapping (with weather included) the lower California/Nevada "Desert", Owens Valley, Las Vegas, etc, at 10 AM in the morning, and the temperature there is -7*C to -10*C...Freezing!
I can never get my head around the fact that USA "Desert", eg; "hot, tumble-weed" regions have such low temperatures during the day!
I always imagine "Deserts" as always being dry and hot...with Rattle Snakes and Cacti!
...I must be wrong!.... :o ....!

Paul...dusting off... ...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Snow complaints will not be accepted at this time due to the weather conditions. Please wait until the snow has gone. :violin:

Depends on who you believe; meteorologists, or that fat, furry rodent they pull out of the box every Feb. 2nd!

We reached -18° F last night, and right now it's a heat wave at 3° F! The thermometer is gonna go up and down like an elevator here the next few days!

Paul -- yes, the desert can get very cold and windy on Winter nights. In the Sonora Desert (Southern Arizona/ NW Mexico) the nights were in the low 30's
with gusty winds around 5-8 kts. Made for a dusty breakfast the next morning!

Seems strange to me here in God's country that it can be this cold and not a flake of snow. I'm still asking myself why I'm still here and not in Lo de marcos where my 2nd home is.

Thanks, Doug.

It's something that most people "up north" can empathize with.

Not having the HEAVY "Vibrant" beat music added to it, helps to enjoy watching it.

When I walked the five miles to my workplace five years ago, it was preferable to walk in a light to medium snowfall than in the rain, whereupon I was soaked by the time I got there; when it's windy, the water in the face offers less visibility than the snow and can add more sting to the eyes. However, even with no snow, if it's really cold, frostbitten eyes are not good, either.
