SkyHawk00, I've just seen this screenshot and then I saw your Hawaii tour screens.
I believe that the not-smooth mountain shapes are linked to your "mesh complexity" setting in the advanced graphic settings.
There are two interesting settings in fact, not to be confused:
- terrain mesh resolution: this defines the maximum mesh resolution that can be drawed. This resolution is given in meters. In FSX, unless you install OrbX sceneries, it's just good to set the resolution to 10 or 19 meters. In Hawaii for example, there is a very good freeware mesh that is in 10 meters resolution.
- terrain mesh complexity: this defines how "complex" should the terrain shapes be. If you set that to a very low percentage, then the shapes get extremely simples, and you get this "pyramid effect", where the mountains are made of straight lines, ugly geometric shapes, just like they were in the very first Combat Flight Simulator. But if you set it to a high level, then FSX will use much more polygons to build the mountains, to smooth the angles, leading to much more realistic shapes.
In your case, you might want to increase the mesh complexity.
Carefull though, make your tests and take your time. Increasing the mesh resolution and complexity will:
- give more work to your CPU cores to build the terrain
- take (much) more time to load the flight.
