My first non SABENA post in a week.  *a sigh of relief goes trough the crowd*

But I'm still into the old Jetliners  I found this beautifull bird on the Historic Jetliners Group website.  It has a nice panel, but I needed some time to figure out the autopilot.  I found out this isn't a 'sit back and relax during the flight' airplane.

This is my first flight with the Convair CV990.  Started on my default airport (Pau/Pyrenees) and took her to Brussel.

Strange isn't it clip. A while back you wouldn't have found me flying anything but heavy metal. But as you'd normally be on a longish flight, found that once you'd taken off you'd just be sitting there with not that much to look at because you're flying high anyway until you got to the fun bit of landing.

So then I started looking around for interesting light GA aircraft to get back to doing a bit of 'proper' flying and there are loads. Now I'm DLing em and working my way through, and I'm back to doing a little bit of painting again if I decide to make a UK reg and so on.

Can't beat it  ;)

That last shot is worthy of a SS contest! The best Comet i've found is by David Maltby, well worth a try.

@ clipper : nope, no comet on that site (707's, DC8, CV880, CV990, and many others ...)  

@ fitter : Ehm, it depends on how you define "well" It was on the runway and everyone (including the plane) survived so it was good enough

Killer shots Killerbunny....I love HJG models...but I really wanted a 707 with a VC...and the only option was the Captain Sim 707...so I vouched for that...I must say I wasn't dissappointed

Trivia for today: those teardrop fairings on the trailing edge weren't part of the original design.  The CV990 was designed to cruise at Mach 0.91, and the airflow over the top surface of the wing started generating unexpected shock waves.  The fairings were added to break these up and keep the wings in one piece.  It didn't make much difference, the 'Coronado' was very inefficient and costly to operate, it stood no chance against the new Boeing designs.
