Crazy Detroit weather...

Postby Triple_7 » Sun Sep 25, 2005 9:14 pm

Finaly make it back to the US and this is the welcome I get :P  Flew from Tokyo to Detroit last night ;)  For some reason I never really cared for the newest Northwest livery.  Luckly a couple of the old ones are still flying ;D

One of the rare times I am first in line for departure and then I have to wait on arrivals ::)  Cathay Pacific A330 almost down and way off in the distance is a Northwest A330 who I have to wait on as well...
Image
Having a rather bumpy takeoff.  Heavy turbulence is expected till above 14,000 feet.  The Cathay is almost parked and the Northwest (in the not so great new colors) is heading in.

Still having a rough climb.  Nice lighting though 8)

Its been a long flight.  There were a couple of close calls with other flights, especialy over Anchorage.  On decent, dont let these few clouds fool you.  By the time we reach Detroit visibility is expected to be less then 1/2 a mile.
Image
Not much wind but nearly impossible to see.  Starting to pull up for a go around.  Full ILS but still managed to overshoot half the runway.  Not looking to repeat the Toronto disaster I found it better to have another go...Second approch was picture perfect and we pulled up to the gate right on schedule ;D

Nice flight Triple_7, liking the runway texture! Is that the Airport Environment Upgrade no.7?

Really love the long hauls with the Jumbo's.  Keep it up.

Nice shots. 8)

I flew into Paulwaukee (Chicago) in a Falcon 50 the same day as you, I think I was definitely getting a piece of that weather ;)

This was flown right along with the real time.  Took off our Saturday night and Tokyo's 3:55 PM Sunday afternoon same as the real flight.  I downloaded the Detroit weather at 2:00 PM 26 minutes before landing...So it was pretty recent...and after the flight I checked the NWA website and the weather really was like that from what it said  ;)

Unfortunatly due to delays in Tokyo the real flight was running quite a bit behind ::)  Guess FS cant be perfect on that :P
