miss Miggy!

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sun Aug 01, 2004 1:45 pm

After messing around with my graphics-cardsettings ( seems resolution and refreshrate make a difference in performance, even to make my AA work ( finally!))

Anyhow, a few shots of my last flight!

All right: Geforce TI4200 - 64 MB

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 ( both system and FS9)
Screenrefreshrate: 75 Hz
AA: 2XQ
Anisotropic filtering: 2x

in FS9: filtering: bilinear and no AA

All changes made using the new manager that came with the latest Nvidea-drivers. ( 61.1 i believe - check the Nvidea site)

Still some FPS-lose in dense area's, but quite acceptable... I will look further into it

At your service...  ;D

and to think the ti4200 is 3 years old and can still produce shots like that i actualy upgraded from a 64mb ti4200 to a 128mb 8x ti4200 and the increase was amazing i ran it at 4 x AA and 8 x filtering  but that was overclocked :D

great shots keep em coming  8)

Airborn 511: it's a mesh-file i found on www.fs2000.org - type "mesh" in the search-engine and you'll find a mesh-file for France, Germany, Italy ans Spain. I really like those!

Liam: beats me! I don't know to much about hardware, i just keep sliding the sliders in search of the optimal settings. Keep your drivers updated ( found on the chipset manufacturer's website - like www.nvidea.com)

Seems i was to demanding at first, because these drivers go for all nvidea chipsets. 8x AA gave jagged edges, 2xQ doesn't and it makes a big difference. My guess is one can be to demanding on one's graphics-card.

These settings give good quality, but complex aircraft like the Posky 757 and airbus 340 or the Meljet 777 still give major FPS-trouble ( read: are unflyable on my machine...)!

Try 1280 * 960.
Screenrefreshrate: 75 Hz

What about 85Hz
AA: 2XQ

Think the GF4200 can handle 4*AA ?

-edit: Err,omag, your system's better than mine and I can fly the POSKY 757 without problems. The only trouble with her were the textures which were way too big. I just used a texture converting program and conveted the texes to DXT-3. She runs much better now without having lost any quality in textures.
I'll try to post some pics later.

FS Texture Converter.

A nice, easy to handle tool with which you can convert textures.
But don't convert the fuselage textures of the 757. Makes her look worse. ;)
