Pac Coast Tour 4th, 4.5th, and 5th Legs (Long One)

Postby pooty13901 » Tue Jul 20, 2004 9:54 pm

Well, well, well. It happened again. I had a bit too much Canadian Scotch, got into trouble with the Royal Mounted Police, got into trouble with some farmer's daughter, and got run out of town. I don't why I decided to do it to myself, but I decided that my fourth leg would take me into Vancouver out of Port Hardy B.C. I have got to learn that the Great White North is no good for me.

They let me stay the night in Port Hardy (the weather was rough last night and I was really afraid of taking the Cessna up) and I woke up to a rosy dawn. Clouds were somewhat heavy, but turbulence was low...

This shot is through an opening in the clouds of Union Bay, B.C.

Blue is my favorite color. How could this shot not make the final cut? Looking out over the Strait of Georgia.
Image

Unfortunately, as Vancouver Island came into view, so did the ceiling. At least there wasn't any real visibility problems as there have been on all my other last stops. Must be getting more southerly, eh?

Here's a view from the inside of a gall-durn purty landin'.

Well, later that same day, I met a kindly old gent in a cigar shop. He was in the very expensive section while I checked out the drab brands so I don't really know how we ran into each other, but he could tell from my sunglasses that I was a pilot  8) Thing was, he had a beautiful 20-year-old daughter (made him show me a picture) with a birthday, and all she wanted was a ride in a plane....Yeah, I could do that ;D

Took her (and several of her girlfriends) up for a tour of Vancouver Bay in a rented plane.

Heading west across the bay. They wanted a birds-eye view of the Vancouver Island Range mountains.

And after banking south, the mountains from the co-pilots window.

Here's what a party plane looks like from "down there"
Image

Well, by this time I was drained. Not from flying. From so many beautiful girls wanting to sit on my lap and fly the plane and wear the glasses (Hey, this is a sim forum, right? Let a guy dream!) We watched the sunset together and called it a day.
Image

Another pretty durn-good landing. That's Brittany's work. She's on my lap 8)
Image

Later that night, after being...uh...run out of...er... town again...I was off for American soil. Taxiing to Vancouver Int'l runway 26L for IFR departure to Olympia in Washington, I saw some bonehead on the taxiway snapping this picture. I snatched it from him due to copyright laws.
Image

Using his camera about 40NM out of Vancouver I saw this sight. Any ideas what it is? I didn't.
Image

Does this help? I kind of got paranoid whenI was the only guy heading south. Did they know something I didn't?! ???
Image

I made it to Olympia in one piece eventually. There were no more pictures taken after that last one. I was too busy even to land at KNUW as someone had suggested I do. As it turned out, the Canadian girl and her friends all decided to see what the U.S. was all about. I had to help them out, didn't I?

If you have made it this far, thanks for sticking around. I know it's a long post, but I hope it was fun. See you next time.

Is that the aero commander or the Beechcraft King Air B200 Teletica?
