Boeing Dreaming

Postby congo » Sat Jun 05, 2004 6:27 pm

Well, Reality Bites.

I mean.....  I always figured by now I'd have my own live aboard  stratocruiser, you know, something to keep you going over those long holiday weekends away from the maddening crowds, and I mean well away!

Like today, I saw an advert for this old 707 in Seattle, low hours, good tyres. No current airworthy certificate though. Got a permit to move her out of the country with a bit of fast talking, gonna take it home to Australia and paint in a GREASED LIGHTNING theme and race John Travolta and his old wreck of a Boeing around the world in it.

Anyways, at the end of the first flight in her, (seattle to Honolulu), I still had a bit of energy left so I decided to just go for it and do a sunset circuit, just to top the day off as it were.

I roared out and around the Inactive for a laugh, I mean, these blokes won't see me 'round these parts for a while anyway right? Now I just gotta figure out where to park it and quietly get a snooze in before morning......

The 707 is available at the Historic jetliner group's webpage.
But I must admit, it handles like a pig  ;D

And were the 707's really called stratocruisers, I thougth it was their 377 model (the chubby, double deck, 4 engine prop)  ???

Anyways, gorgoeous pics of a pioneer airliner  :)
