Goony bird... Goofy Landing.

Postby eno » Wed Jun 02, 2004 4:40 am

On a search and rescue mission over Manitoba when the oil pressure began to drop. The weather was horrendous, rain squalls accompanied by 20 knot winds gusting to 30 knots. Nightfall was imminent so rather than return to base I decided to look for somewhere more local to land and sit the storm out. After one circuit to check out the strip I went for a landing. I only just made it down.

Searching for a landing spot.

Airstrip found but it was going to be tight ...... Really tight.

25 Knot cross winds made for an interesting approach.

Mind bogglingly interesting.  :o :o

Too much power so unicycling along the runway

Trying to get the upwind wing down.

I managed to land this but only just inches from the trees at the far end of the runway.
