Im not 100% sure but I believe to begin with it was an option by Boeing but nobody went for it. Probably the extra cost, weight and its just something else to go wrong etc.

Cool shots.

FYI...in real flying 777's are not allowed in LaGuardia (it's merely a domestic airport).  Every once in a while a 767 comes in for the day (usually a Delta flight from Atlanta).  However, runways are not designed to accomodate the heavies and neither are the gates.  All heavies are flown to Kennedy or Newark.

nice shots!

in the beginning, Boeing provided the option of folding wings because of the large wingspan of the plane. allas, not a single airline took this option...sad because it would be a cool sight!

Maybe the Airbus 380 will have folding wings?  It's so big, and that would keep them from having to re-do the parking at all the airports it services.  Nice shots though, and at one of my favorite airports :)
