known as the ariel truck with its unique intermeshing rotors,
no tail rotor which means all engine power goes directly to the main rotors for the highest lifting capacity...
lovely to fly and easy to land with top v/c. :) :)

What the ... is that? Double rotor, turning trough eachother? Wouldn't wanna be around when that goes wrong ...  ;D

i've seen one of those at work in Switserland... the Ka-32 has better looks

Its a strange looking thing. I saw something about it on Discovery a while back. Unusual, but highly effective 8)

I've always thought that how they keep those rotors from colliding is something akin to magic.

Nice one, as usual. Where do you find all this stuff Lemoncat? ;)

I've never heard of it but having little interest in helos that's hardly surprising. Kaman Aircraft started making helicopters like this when I was knee-high to a gnat. They always reminded me of the German Focke-Angelis Fa 223 Drache.

Kaman K-MAX originated from a specialized SAR helicopter for the USAF which was used for firefighting. The rotor wash gives the crew a chance to rescue people on the ground whitout the fire getting close.
