MARTIN BACKER M.B.5

Postby fido » Wed Apr 21, 2004 7:10 am

The MartinBaker M.B.5 was first flown on May 23, 1944 using a Rolls-Royce Griffin 83 twelve-cylinder Vee liquid cooled engine driving two three-blade D.H. contra-rotating airscrews. A Laminar-flow duct under the rear fuselage housed coolant and oil radiators and the intercooler. Armed with four 20mm cannons, and a Max speed of over 450mph she would have made a potent hunter. All pictures are from FS9 except the last which was taken with a different version by same author in CFS2.

Nice shots Fido. The MB5 is reckoned by many to be the best aircraft the RAF/FAA never had during WWII. It was a very promising design with many unique features. Martin Baker Aircraft Co. Ltd. was founded as an aircraft manufacturer in 1934 by James Martin (later Sir James Martin) and Captain Valentine Baker. The company was involved with many things in the aircraft industry but was not well-known for its own designs. This is the same company that developed the Martin-Baker ejector seats used on military aircraft all over the world & responsible for saving many lives.

Foo_fighter:
The problem you've got is all to do with the hydraulic pressure. If you open the aircraft.cfg and find:

[hydraulic_system]

When you've found that you can either copy the following, or just simple edit the pressure to be 1000PSI + :)

[hydraulic_system]
electric_pumps=0
engine_map=1,0,0,0
normal_pressure=1500

This will solve your problems. The pure FS9 version of Piglet's MB5 is at www.sim-outhouse.com --> the CFS2 version works just as well in FS9 with the above mentioned modification.
Hope that helps you out!

After the Luftwaffe Tornado collision yesterday this now reads:

Lives saved to date 7053

2 more lives saved. Pity it couldn't have been 4. :'(

Its a good tip to remember Foo_fighter, this applies to (probably) the majority of CFS2 conversion to FS9 --> providing you have that problem!
