Isn`t the f-117`s  primary  mission to knock out enemy air defense radar installations so more conventional aircraft can go in?
This is hardly an obsolete roll.
Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY
Stop by and say hello. :)

I don't.

My favourite for the "ugliest aircraft" award:

I think its useless as well. Instead of a sub-sonic stealth fighter with a small bomb load they ought to design a hypersonic bomber with a large payload. If it can go into space and travel at mach 5 who needs stealth? Hardly any radar unit could track it and even if it did you couldn't shoot it down.

By the way I think the boeing concept in silent's post is a beut! Someone ought to make one for FS2002 and FS2004.

You know what?  I was wrong.  There is a plane that is more useless than the Nighthawk.  In fact it fits my initial description to a tee...

well i will agree on your second pick a little, i believe each unit costs $1billion.
As for the 7E7 its a beautiful plane that will out perform any commercial plane flying at the time. I dont know why some people think the A380 will be spacious, they will cram as many people into that thing as they can. and if you look at the planned seat pitches and layouts its not going to be anymore spacious than a 747. add in the fact that the upper level is going to be really low its gonna be like a sardine can. Just wait until some of the middle east carriers get hold of it:) 900 people on there wouldnt be out of the question. As for all this hype about swimming pools and gyms and bars and showers. Hands up here who wants to be bench pressing 300lbs or taking a shower when you hit that clear air turbulance. Certainly not me

Okay torquestripe, them's fighting words!!!  The Buccaneer is one of the most brutally beautiful airplanes ever made!

(Now, were you to have mentioned the Avro Bison, I'd be tempted to agree with you)

You could not be more wrong there. The Buccaneer is a good looking plane that looks like it has a purpose. Not to mention a purpose that it can do well.

And in Desert Storm, guess which aircraft was knocking out the radars?
Thats right...http://gwardnet.d2g.com/mac/maccdale/buccaneer.jpg

I can't be having that. :o Some people have no soul. Beauty is in the eye if the beholder. I agree with Felix & Woody. Did you ever hear the term Area Rule? Not a curve out of place. The Buccaneer was the ultimate in efficient aeronautical design & streamlining when it first appeared in 1958. There's still nothing to match it for performance now.

PS. The F-117 is certainly unusual & I don't know if it's effective in its original role. It's by no means the ugliest aircraft I've ever seen. I can think of several other contenders for that award. ::)
