Sock Flies Europe:

Postby Sock » Fri Apr 16, 2004 12:17 pm

Today's leg is my last in North Africa, and yesterday I made an early morning flight from Matruh to Cairo Egypt...

Cairo was a nice city.  The old stone buildings and ancient relics of a bygone civilization made me fell like Indiana Jones!  Just without the wip or Nazis... :P

The Pyramids had been spectacular!  I got sun burn just standing there looking up at them in awe, and then, that night, I saw the sun set behind them from across the Nile.  Beautiful!

Morning came and it was time to leave.  I got to the airport early, around seven, so that I could get to Alexandria quickly.

I took off...

Image

Once in the air I rocked my wings to say goodbye to Cairo and all it's mysteries, and followed the Nile north.

Image

Image

There was nothing new along the river, nothing I hadn't seen the day before.

Image

I reached Alexandria about an hour after leaving Cairo and I tuned to Alexandria International for permission to land.

Image

I turned Peggy towards the runway and greased her in for a smooth landing.

Image

I taxied to parking, shut her down, and tied her down.  I then grabbed my hat from the rear and was ready to play Indiana Jones again. ;D

Tune in tommrow when I say good bye to sand beautiful weather, and hello to Europe!

Thanks man.  I'm not even sure if I have autopilot.  If I did it would probably take me a few hours to figure it out.  Normally I just trim it for level flight, so if nature, or anyone else, calls I don't have to pause it.

Acually I haven't flown in a long time.  I had all the shots for my legs up to 15 pilled up and I need to post them.  Thats what the last few weeks have been for.  I think I'm caught up enough now...I'm going to go find Italy. :)

Sure thing Omag.  I'll be sure to set back time. ;) ;D  Hey, gonna make sure to rock my wings over Belgium!
