Cessna 150!!!

Postby jay_the_pilot » Tue Apr 13, 2004 9:57 pm

When I saw that a decent looking Cessna 150 was released on Monday, I thought it was a beautiful day in Flight Sim history.  Little did I know...
I don't mean to be a critic around here, but everybody could use a little constructive criticism, right?  Besides, this hurt me on the inside because there isn't a decent Cessna 150 in FS :(.  Anyway, I'll get to posting my story and my problems with this plane.

I start out at Albuquerque International, ready to pick up an hour of night VFR.
Image
I contact Ground and get clearance to the active runway 26.  Tower clears me for takeoff, and I'm on my way.
Image
I depart, flying to the east.  Here, I cross the Sandias on my way out.
Image

After an hour of uneventful flying, I start my descent into Clovis.
Image

I setup the pattern, flying downwind, base, and turn in for short final.
Image

I come in and make a nice gentle touchdown ::) (It was actually two landings.  I had no idea it was so hard to take a picture and fly at the same time)
Image
I taxi into the hangar for shutdown.

Time for critic:  First impressions were of a good looking model with an odd paint job.  Unfortunately, as you look closer, there are 4 seats in this airplane, but in real life there are 2 in a 150.  A 150 with 4 seats is a 172.  In the weight and balance department, there are also 4 stations for passengers.  The panel is just the default 172 panel with all the light and radio, gps, etc., buttons gone.  The VC is more 2D than 3D.  Finally, this plane acts like its a racecar on the ground, and when I flew one it wasn't near as responsive.  This sentence should be in another forum, but oh well.  My big cry to all aircraft designers is that we NEED a C150 that is free and as high quality as all the airliners being modeled.

Thank you, and good night.

With all due respect parts of the above are factually incorrect, not getting on me high horse here, but i HAVE SEEN a 150/152 with 4 seats --> the two rear seats/bench seat is for infants and small children. As far as one remembers they were offered as a factory option.
Another point, the 150/152 family apreared after the 172 & is built for a different purpose than the 172, hence different aeroplane.
The real thing is a delightfully handling aeroplane, its drawback is that it is underpowered by around 20 odd HP -- it's "hot & high" performance is not good to say the least.

I too would like to know where you got this model from? It is not the Flight 1 model, is it the GeForce C150H that was built for FS2002?

The GeForce 150 would probably work great in FS2004. I've got it, but I personally haven't flown it in FS2004. It was originally designed for FS2002, but it's a GMAX model with reflective textures, a DVC, a custom panel, and it's freeware 8)

The GeForce 150 works wonderfully in FS2004 and I use it often (though not lately).  It was a masterpiece then and it holds up well.

And I have never seen a 152 with 4 seats in my life.  If you can find a picture of it, I'd love to see it.

Unfortunately, i have to agree about the quality, i downloaded the same C150, and, well, it is really a dissapointment, as weird as this may sound, those blokes who advertise payware might use aircraft such as this to make freeware look, err, low quality, even though about 3% of freeware is like this!!

So true, we do need some basic trainer aircraft as well as the jumbo jets....

All the Gforce links here at SimV seem to be dead, but never fear.  You old buddy Kevin has the files tucked neatly away on his hard drive and ready to ship at a moments notice.

Ken, I think that's Carenado's 152. Is it a GMAX or FSDS2 model?

is is, is carenado's they all 3 are available here in SimV, i say 3 cuz they released the 152 (the one ken shows) and the 152 II and the 150. look thru the FS2000 section.... dont get scared ny the FS2000, these models are the pinnacle of FSDS (one, yes the fist version) design. these models rock!! there is nothing better than these... (maybe GForce's would come to a close fight with these...) these models are really good, i strongly recomend u guys get them. the models are ultra detailed... interior views, custom panels and great FDE's (my dad loves them, he says they fly just like the real ones) and yeah. if u guys dont find them anywhere i might still have a copy or two around my system, just gimme a shout. ;)
