*** Trans - USA Adventure Leg 1 ***

Postby Cherokee_6 » Mon Mar 15, 2004 11:21 am

Its that time again! Time for another wild and crazy adventure!!
For this adventure I will be encircling the USA. There are lots of sites that I want to see and Simv members local airstrips that I want to visit.

So I packed up the Baron once again and kissed the wife and kid good-bye, and I was off...

For the first leg I left my hometown of Calgary, Alberta and headed to Spokane Washington. I want to get to the west coast and follow it southward....

Current  Location...

Route info for this leg.

Packed up all my supplies and did a final check...warmed up the engines and entered my flight plan into the GPS...
Image

After getting clearance for takeoff, I lifted off and noticed all my family and friends waving good-bye! I tipped my wings in acknowledgment and headed south!
Image

Flying over the northern tip of Montana....nice moutains!
Image

On final into Spokane, the winds were crazy! There was a 50 knt crosswind...I am still trying to figure out why ATC wanted me to land on this runway...but I figured it was a good reminder for me on crosswind landing....
Image

Managed to get her down in one piece...got it parked and secured and headed out for a celebratory drink for a successful first leg!

Thanks for watching! Comments/Suggestions always  welcome!

Thanks Everyone!!  I look forward to this trip and hope to not dissapoint anyone!

Good luck and I see you will be approaching me on Long Island from the South! We will make arrangement when you get closer to my house. I'm sure the wife and kids won't mind me building a fire out back while you and I "fire walk"!!

Looking forward to it Dave!  ;D ;D ;D
