Leg 1 PIREP
As my pager went off, I took a glance at the lit-up display and noted that It was the Airboss. "It's not very often that he pages me so early in the morning", I thought to myself. I was already enroute and an hour away from Anchorage so it would have to wait untill I land. Once in Anchorage, I used the nearest phone I could find and quickly called him.
"Where Are you?" He asked
"I just arrived in Anchorage" I replied.
"I've got a special job that I think you may be interested in"
"Really? What kind of job?" I asked.
"Heather won an old Junkers JU-52. The only problem is that it's over on Adak Island, but she's too busy to go get it. Right now, she's specifically requesting that an experienced BFU pilot ferry it to Port Angeles."
"I would love to do it!", I exclaimed.
"I'll let Heather know you're on the way. Good luck"
I grabbed my suitcase that I've been living out of for the last few months, and after taking a couple commuter flights, I finally ended up on Adak Island late afternoon.
Once I located the hangar, I found the maintenance crew finishing up with an oil change. After showing my ID to previous owner, we finished up some paperwork for the aircraft transfer, and insisted that I take the aircraft up for a little while to get a feeling of
