Scary isn't it

Postby A/SGT.Mav316 » Sun Dec 07, 2003 6:02 pm

Now I don't like bringing up the past or glorifying terrorists. But I happened to set a flight patrol in a F16 over Washington DC and took this scary reality check picture.

If Flight Simulator is as real as it gets and has geographically correctly placed buildings where they should be. It is very terrifying to think about just how close the terrorists came to landing a Airliner straight into the White House.

When I saw this it made me sick to see how defenseless we really are and how close our capitol building almost got took out!

Someone please resize this for me. Thank you in advance.

We all have to assume that the ac which crashed in PA was headed for the Whitehouse.
Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY
Stop by and say hello. :)

I joined the forum on Sept. 10th 2001 and i remember the aftermath of the terror attacks.
I think people were pointing fingers at this FS comunity (not simv in paticular) saying they could use it to practice
>:(

The news said something about the terrorists using Flight Simulator in particular to plot their attack. But with realism and mapping so real it is very scary to see how someone can use a tool used for entertainment as a tool of mass destruction. Very scary!

dude it looked like the white house :( Guess if visually from the air it is suppose to fool you into thinking it is the white house. That is why the terrorists couldn't hit it because they couldn't find it! So they went for the Pentagon instead! which is what CNN said  :P

Stupid Terrorists...   :P :P

I have a friend that flies in there often, and he says that there are so many safety procetuyres going into Reagan Natl that the public doesn't know about.  At leas one, usually 2 federal marshalls on each flight and codewords and plans for the crew in case of an emergency.

Just bear in mind that this information is not secret, nor should it be in a free society. I visited Washington DC some years ago & still have tourist maps showing the exact location of all places of interest & directions on finding them. Similar maps are freely available in any other city in the world & also show up on many tourist & map websites. There's nothing to stop anyone using  the information for their own purposes.

OMG. :-/

Microsoft have taken great lengths to make sure that the scenery in Washington D.C. is "as real as it gets".

However, I can't believe that they have never taken great lengths to make sure that the scenery in Miami, Florida is "as real as it gets". >:(

For example:

In real life, if you look at the East side of Biscayne Bay [on the other side of the Key] you will clearly South Beach with plenty of sand and a nice neighborhood. There is also a peir on the south end of the beach. I use to jump my @55 off that thing. It felt scary. ;D

But in FS, the Beach is not there. NOT EVEN the d*mn peir is there. The beach looks nothing more than a piece of forest. >:(

Not only that, the International Mall is not there as it should be. And there's no neighberhood that North and next to Kendall-Tamiami Executive as it should be. >:(

I can't believe Microsoft. They made Washington D.C. look like a work of art while they made Miami look like utter cr*p. >:(

There's not even a road [137th Ave] that connects Kendall Tamiami to any neighborhood as it should be.

And Miami is one the most well-known places in the world. Even the druglords know a lot about Miami because their stuff always goes through there first. ;D

Microsoft has already added cargo ships in Miami, but I still can't believe that they still never added a d*mn cargo ship to the Port of Miami.

In real life, there are plenty of small boats and yahts just South of Biscayne Bay and some in Key Largo and Elliot Key. But in FS, the area looks dead with just one cruise ship at a far distance to the East. >:(

Bill Gates, you better STOP looking at our wallets and START looking at our demands. >:(

This is why I choose IL-2 Sturmovik over FS. Those people in UBI take a long time to finish, but at least they got rid of the bugs.

To Microsoft, time is always money. Those people are always on a rush. Take a look at CFS3. Many people around here said that it was rushed.

Why does microsoft always concentrate on one area or so while leaving the rest of the good looking like cr*p. H377, our scenery addons are better than theirs and a majority of these addons are free.

I have a demo-version of the Fly-Miami scenery. With this addon, Miami International Airport looks GREAT and up-to-date. However, it's a bit of a frame rate hit. But it's no problem. The Payware-version has all the details and accuracy. There is [I think] a Payware-version of the Tampa airport as well called Fly-Tampa.

The Fly-Miami Demo-version has all the stuff as the Payware, but with the purple transparent boxes applied over the runways.

I'll provide a sceenshot later on. I'll give you a Before and After picture of the airport.

not at all, look at lock on. this game does not include some features which were promised to be included by the developers, such as the dynamic campaign. and it has a lot of bugs, too.
