Cruisin' Alaska

Postby dasmonki » Thu Nov 27, 2003 9:00 pm

Never flow out of Alaska before, so I decided to take a Baron out from Alaska to British Columbia. Nothing too eventful, here's a cool pic of me just under the northern lights over Alaska like 30 minutes after takeoff.

So I finished my flight from Alaska to 'British Columbia'. In a nutshell, it was an educational flight, if nothing else. Having very little flying experience, you can imagine what flying over empty Alaska at night can do to your nerves. Well it wasn't really night, but it was pretty dark. That first pic is me doing pretty good, doing about 9,000 feet with  no fear.

The darkness gets darker, and I'm starting to question my abilities as a pilot.

The horizon is a nice site to calm my jittery nerves, since I didn't pack any coffee.
Image

I decided that not taking a pee break before a long flight is a very very bad idea, and I'm making a change in course to Kantishna Airport in southern Alaska to take a small but well deserved toilet break.
Image

Flying on instruments alone is scary...
Image

I went about 10nm off course trying to kill a spider stuck in the cockpit. Here's me after succesfully killing the spider.
Image

What's that in the distance? An airport?
Image

Oh... roads...

Then I saw the spider again, and my rage got the better of me. It should say 'pilot overstressed'.

Anyways, I think I need some more practice before I give this flight another try. Hope you like the pics!  ;D

Sure does ;)

Althought not modelled perfect, it is in there. It can appear is several different colours, and is also animated after the real thing.

Of course, this feature has it's quirks and bugs, but it's fun nonethless :)
