a few tomcat pics worth a look

Postby Daz » Mon Nov 24, 2003 11:59 pm

looking through my endless fs2002 aircraft folder for gmax models to fly in fs9 and came across this beauty i havent flown for a time. so i decided to take her up and take some shots. is it me or does fs9 make the aircraft look clearer and better than fs2002?.

shots are taken at absolute full max settings apart from resolution is at 1024 x 768 x 32. computer spec is shown below. Scenery is default alps around the airport Sion in switzerland using bill lyons excellent water textures.

Great pics!
FS9 does make many 2002 ac look better due to the new lighting effects.
Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY

Awesome shots, that plane looks incredible. FS9 definitely makes planes look better, I agree. Bill's water textures are amazing, much much better than the default ones... ;D ;D

Lovely Pictures Daz! I like the 1st and the last particularly. I shall go and install that one into FS9 now.

That Tomcat is very nice. ;D ;D  After looking at those shots, I've decided I need to get FS2004.

i used to fly this plane alot in FS2002...what i remember is that it's very hard to land it! do you also get that feeling? when i fly eg the Viper in FS9, i can land it always, no matter what crosswind or failures i have to deal with.

btw, the last shot is amazing!  ;)

Very nice pics.

Just what direction might you steer me for this aircraft?

its right here at simV. Look up the Fs2002 directory and scroll back the newest file until you find the GMAX F14! I don't know exactly what page it is on though  :-/

I am satisfied with flying this baby because it looks alright, but a newer version should have reflective textures and a much smoother surface like the Kirk Olson F16 Fighters. That is the F14 Tomcat I will enjoy flying! Landing with this aircraft can be tricky as it seems to power down the runway and when you try to slow down she has a tendacy to bounce up in the air and come down real hard on the runway. Then when you stop you have a half buried aircraft in the runway  :o
Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!
