H-1b Short Wing nears completion!

Postby Travis » Fri Oct 31, 2003 6:18 pm

First off, I have been working on this model for going on three months, and have finally gotten it to a point where I feel confident with my work.

I have nearly completed my shortwing version of the Hughes H-1b.

Pete, as far as I know, the H-1 has nothing to do with the Corsair.  It was made (originally) by Howard Hughes in the late 30s, and was one of the most carefully constructed aircraft ever built.  No part of it was factory-made; everything was hand-crafted.  Maybe the Corsair was modeled after the H-1? ???

Thanks for the kudos, ramsa!  I'm sure it will work for 2k4, but someone will have to tell me where to add the extra stuff in the aircraft.cfg and airfile, as I haven't got 2k4 and I don't know a thing about the differences.

What about the poly number? ???  Isn't that a bit high for such a small aircraft?  I don't know the poly numbers on any other aircraft, so if someone could give me an idea of what is too much, I would be greatful!

Dude, no wonder you were so busy on other things.

Now THAT'S a plane.

I think I can handle the poly count. Just look at my specs.

My Mercedes SL600 (car model made in Gmax) has over 12,000 polygons total. And my frames wren't affected by this model when I exported it. So, I guess my computer can tolerate [I don't how much] an aircraft with up to 30,000 polygons.

BTW, Ender. That's a GREAT-@55 model.

Thank you, Katahu!  Great to know that others appreciate the hard work and effort I've put into this so far.

And she's gonna have a lot more poly's to come!  Gotta make the VC still . . .

Thanks much, Polynomial!

I'm having a great time doing the DVC, so far!  It didn't seem like it would be very fun, but I'm having a blast.

Here's a shot of the DVC.  This is just a few hours of modeling, but everything moves.

I took a guess at the controls on the left.  I have an ancient photo of the original cockpit, so I based it off of that.  Problem is, nothing but the brake is labled in the photo, so I just took a few liberties.

Texturing this is gonna suck . . . :-[
