something very strange here

Postby slimcooper » Mon Oct 13, 2003 5:28 pm

I came across this on my way to Kamarang (SYKM)

50 miles out

what the heck is it?
Image

very tall, check my altitude

I see the hole it came from

still not sure what it was, the eighth wonder of the world? At over 12 miles high it should be. And not even a beacon, glad it wasnt at night.

It's a scenery glitch.

Is that just default scenery or do you have something installed in the area?

I got a similar thing when I was messing about editing a bgl and obviously messed up one or more polygon coordinates.

This is the same thing. It's not a real object so don't expect the Giant to come climbing down or to see Jack on his way up!

It's not just an isolated glitch. I clocked this thing at 61,910ft high! Just be glad it's not real. Imagine Edmond Hillary climbing all the way to the top of Everest and then finding out about this thing.   ;D

Oh well, when trying to recreate the entire Earth, things are bound to go wrong.

Tobe honest, I got the hint from here,
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=COF;action=display;num=1065092911

about the third one down someone suggest flying from Cheddi Jagga (SYCJ) to Kamarang (SYKM). He suggest a suprise toward the end. And I assume this is what he was talking about. And I havent added any scenery or addons to this area. All I add are planes. There is a DEEP hole across the river that looks like it came out of, though I would think a 12 mile hole might have a tendency to spew molten rock, hehe.
If its a glitch, its a common one cause more than 1 person has seen it. and all my scenery is default.
If you take off from kamarang you cant miss it, its only a couple of miles away.

Take a look at the altitude!  Actually, it's more like 18 miles deep...  ;D

I think someone added a zero somewhere they shouldn't have...

Hehe well I'm glad my "hint" worked for at least one person.  ;D The way I found out about it was pretty much how new people are finding out about it here.....someone posted screenshots and coordinates.

I liked my way better, telling a specific route to take and giving a sense of anticipation of something extraordinary ;)
