The Russians Are Coming..

Postby RollerBall » Fri Oct 10, 2003 5:19 pm

Here's an unusual one I found on PlaneSimviation again. It's an AN-26. Do we have it here? I don't know

Looks great in the air...

..but how's your Russian when it comes to the flying instruments?

Image

Wonder when one last flew over Hong Kong

Image

Unusual model with some nice detail (inc the cockpit views - not a VC which is how I like it) and flies well

"Wonder when one last flew over Hong Kong"

Most likely not to long ago, the PLAN has a couple of these aircraft.

Lovely shots Roger, and Cyrillic isn't too bad once you've got the basics (I had to learn it for my date with Mrs Mi-24D) ;D
I quite like the 26, I'll try and scan some photos I've got of HAF ones and post them ;)

Ahhhh... now there's a thought. IF we could find someone who has some Eastern European experience and IF that person had a knowledge and understanding of flying and IF that person also had a grasp of Cyrillic....maybe they could re-do the AN-26 panel with similar instruments in English ...or perhaps even modify the bitmaps of the Russian ones or something...

IF ONLY we knew someone like that....any ideas??????

;)

Thanks for the comments gents.

Ken, yeah the whole package is in Russian with only the ReadMe file translated into English. I have no idea which instrument is which or even how to make the AH come alive!

It would be a shame to swap the panel (eg Dash 8,

been there done that...

- ADF radio's don't switch to the sub-1000 band even when you dial it in correctly.
- Autopilot use: read the manual or crash :D
- there are 3 NAV radios on the nav panel: ADF (2x), VOR (2x) and RSBN(1). you'll need to download some extra scenery for the RSBN (i haven't tested that scenery in fs2004 yet...)

Water rudder opens the door in flight mode (slides under), shift-e opens it in grond mode (drivable ramp)

bind the tailhook and fold wings to some key combo's.
AFAIK fold wings opens the engine covers (usually i do both tailhook and fold wings, you'll never know what surprises are built-in)

And RollerBall, cruise is 60% TLAI, not 100%.
All power switches are available on the panel which is linked to the BN label thing on the left side.
HSI is powered on on the NAV panel (click on the yellow thing with the black stripes on the right side)
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur
