Well my understanding of the similarities are as follows,  Roy used to be a part of the MAAM team, something happened between them and his team went on to produce this a/c. Whatever the copyright issue is, they will straighten it out between themselves. At his site he talks about what happened and explains it in his "news-news" link. He also explains why there is no VC though it is of little help to those who enjoy flying in the VC. Personaly I cant afford payware so to me this is the best freeware plane out there Ive found so far, and Roy says a cfs2 version will be available around August. Cant wait. I just cant think of the words to describe someone who puts as many hours into a project like this and GIVES it away to anyone.

Your thinking of the MAAM B25,  This is a TOTAL aircraft and no registration required. Its at

http://www.roychaffin.com/packages.html

No missing gauges, I had tat one too, "Beautiful Mind" or something like that.  Made by same people that made the R4D

No, this is the one I had DL'd and the guages would black out after 4 or 5 minutes of flight.

I Dl'd the one one the link above and get the same thing. All the main guages on the panel are blacked out by a black box after 4 or 5 minutes of flight. And in the view where the plane is tranparent and there is a row of 6 guages at the bottom of the screen - well they get a black box covering the left 4 guages.

If they want to do this for copyright protection - I have no beef. But why am I getting this and you all say you are not?

Both craft I downloaded were named "Roy's Rattler"

Any ideas anyone?

I'm not normally a bomber man, but that is too beautiful not to have it in the hangar!
So what if its 51mb, I'll go and make a cup of tea and cook lunch while its dl'ing :o

Oso,
I was just following this post and noticed your question. I don't know if this will help, but the installation comes with setups for 3 different operating systems. Make sure you are using the right plane. In the plane selection drop down menu under variations, you can choose.

After seeing this plane I decided to download it (it looked amazing!)and I use window XP. After download, I selected the appropriate version and flew. It worked fine, slowed frame rates a little, otherwise great. All gauges as per normal.

And just to be a jerk......

Downloaded it from the above link and it took under 3 minutes. (Local cable provider)

Anyway, aside from the last comment, I hope my input helps.
Eric

 Oso,
I think ekuebler might be on to something, if that doesnt work go back to Roys site and Email him with the problem, he answers EVERY email and is very helpful as he wants it to work as bad as you do.  He takes pride in his work and understands his reputation is what counts in this community. Good luck and I hope you get it working, it truly is a beaut of a plane.
As an added note, I understand the cfs2 version of this plane will be available this summer and his next 2 projects are to be a british DC-3 then a Lancaster, cant wait to see the Lanc.

Turned out to be a poor install.

Holy crap!! What a beautiful aircraft. The detail is amazing!!!

The panel is sheer artwork. I cannot comprehend the artistic skill it would take to duplicate that panel.

This pic of the panel does not do it justice. And there are so many little links to panels and stuff embedded in it I doubt I will ever find them all. Amazing.

Only problem with it I can see is that it needs some good ol' Murican stars on it.  ;)
