Mission Impossible

Postby Smoke2much » Sun Jun 29, 2003 12:26 pm

Cleared to Land, on Final approach.  Full Flaps, Air Brakes extended with two thirds throttle, Landing Gear down and locked.  Maintaining 120 knots IAS, 500 FPM descent.

Image

Touch down!!!  Throttle back, brakes on full.  No reverse thrusters.  Oh Crap............

Image

This runway is very short....  90 Knots IAS.  Ejector seat armed and ready.  Crew in crash positions.

Image

Prayers said, mayday sent, divers in the water.

Image

Oh well, maybe I was being a little ambitious trying to land this thing on a carrier..........................

one questions, one idea.....

Question: Is that as slow as it can go?

Oh yeah, the idea........try stalling it right above the runway, at the beginning, that oughta stop it better.

Cool pics though. Keep at it.

Any slower than 110-120 Kts IAS and the nose was so high that I crashed instantly when the tail connected with the deck.

And it was stalled at the moment of touch down.  It may be possible with realism set to easy but that would be cheating.

Will I've managed to get an AN225 down on the deck, but I class it as a failure as the wing and the tower became somewhat intimate!!!

yea, it is mission impossible, the only other thing you can do is land it like a helo, but i dont think that can be done iwht a b-52, and it would sink the carrier in the prossess. I have made things like C172 land like that though, never idle wiht full flaps, and a level atitude, and not pay attention to airspeed, the funny part is, a 500' fall, and no crash! or broken anything

Current ride, a 1972 Honda CT70 with a 3-speed transmition w/ and automatic clutch. So far i've gotten it to do 40mph.
