After getting this a few days ago and finding it more than just a bit twitchy, I had a go at modifying the way it flies.......now I can manage it ........gee, I did that ?.....what a difference between then and now....
Rifleman,
The real thing is also quite twitchy & VERY responsive to control input. One thing to note that it has small couplings & very large control surface areas. In that respect I have tried to make that "realistic" - I do realise that some may find it too much in FS. :)
A simple way to dull the aileron response is to open the aircraft.cfg and edit these until you get what you like:
(Note that I am assuming that the aileron response is too much)
[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar = 1
parasite_drag_scalar = 1.1
induced_drag_scalar = 1
elevator_effectiveness = 1.25
aileron_effectiveness = 1
rudder_effectiveness = 1
pitch_stability = 1
roll_stability = 1
yaw_stability = 1
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 1
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1
The biggest difference to the model would be to lessen the Aileron Control Effectiveness from a value of 1 to say 0.5 etc --> that would provide a immediate effect without tearing your hair out trawling through the airfile with AirEd etc.
The following comes from the Handling notes:
"A. GENERAL HANDLING COMMENTS
In general, the Starlet has typically ultra light characteristics light, responsive controls with seemingly no hesitation between control input and aircraft response. Light and precise, pilot feel is probably more significant than outright experience, and a two fingered approach to flying will ensure the quickest transition to Starlet proficiency. As in all tail wheel aircraft, high speed ground handling should never be taken for granted, though care and respect should ensure no problems as ample directional control is available.
While being responsive, stability is good and all controls have positive and progressive feel."
If users of the Corby would like me to fiddle more with the Roll rates (aprticularly @ lower speeds) etc please let me know, the roll rates are adjustable reasonably easily in the 1% spreadsheets.
The Texture problem is one that i have no idea of solving. Suffice to say that the textures do conform to FS standards and have no errors in them. One thing i could suggest is that do you have a Graphics card that can handle reflective textures? (i.e like a GF4 etc). If you have a Nvidia GF4 MX card do you have the reflections fix for FS2002? That would be the only thing i could suggest.
