..and now for something completely different...!
...A Blast from the Past... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

"Looking Glass Studios. Leading The World In Electric Amusement"
"...Yee-Haa..."...!
(All those lucky owners will recognise that)...!

Here are some nice, nostalgic pics of Flight Unlimited II, just to show how good the old game was... ;)...!
(I've had to reduce all the pics to 640 X 480 'cos Mr. SimV said "Fozzer, you have exceeded your upload limit, and I have deleted all your pictures...").
Buggar... :'(...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

I still play it regularly as a change from FS 2002.
The scenery from the air is amazing, even by todays standards. All the cities, free-ways and fly-overs are accurately depicted, and the mountains show all the paths and roads traversing them.

San Francisco International from the air.

If you find a copy of Flight Unlimited II in your local game shop, snap it up...!
You will not be dissapionted. It works fine on a "low end" machine, and even better on a "high end" machine"... 8)...!

(I actually prefer this version to Flight Unlimited III which covers the Seattle area).
Pro Pilot 2 is also a very good game for practising ATC, (although the scenery is rather plain).

Cheers all... ;D...!
Have fun...!

Hi Fozzer. My, that brings back some memories. FU II was actually my first flight sim. I always thought it was far ahead of the M$ products. It was around at the same time as FS98. The flight model is far more accurate (you can even do a proper spin) & they had decent panels. They issued a patch to fix one of the aircraft & you could get a bonus Fokker Triplane. I should still have the files somewhere. The only drawback as I remember was the lack of addons & scenery restricted to the San Francisco area. That's fine for you as, from what I understand, you rarely fly anywhere else.

[quote]I also have the original Flight Unlimited. I suppose you could call it FUI. LOL
It was first available in DOS only but they later released a proper Windows version. It's a tad gimmicky but just the job if you're interested in aerobatics. You get to fly the Decathlon, Pitts Special, Extra & Sukhoi 26. It even has a glider with an aero-tow feature. This was back in 1995. M$ still hasn't come up with anything like that.

P.S. I see you still have the 3DFX 5 5500..?
...the last in the line...!

Yep, still going strong & beautiful graphics quality. I've hung on as long as possible although sadly I think its days are numbered.  :-[

Flight Unlimited 1 was a very good game,i played it very often on my first computer. Pro Pilot was very good ,too, but i hated that there was no "worldwide" edition, just an "europe" or "USA" one.

Chuck Yeager made a simulator?

And as for FU, lets say only USA, what happens if you try to leave the border?

Hi Astro... ;D...!
FU I, and FUII (San Francisco Bay area)...
The flyable area is shown on the map, (It's large enough).. ;)...!
Leaving the area in any direction just results in repeated, mirrored textures...not worth wandering away...LOL...!

Cheers... ;D...!

I got this a while back, pity about the limited range of flying, but the quality is undeniably excellent ;D
Nice shots too Fozzer ;)

Hi Ozzy.... ;D...!
..now you can see where I get my addictive enthusiasm for the Californian sea-board coast..!
I spent so many years chuffin aroud the area in Flight Unlimited II that I soon got to recognise enery square inch of the area...
...VFR flights...no problem...no fear of getting lost if my instruments fail...LOL...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!
