USA Mesh - Rocky Mountains

Postby Oso » Thu Apr 24, 2003 11:34 pm

This is my first attempt at screenies. They may be a little poor in quality as I used MSPaint. Sorry. Po' folks have Po' ways.

Anyway - I set up Colorado first to test the mesh. This is some shots of a little trip I took from Denver west. Plus I am in my fav plane - a Super Connie - nice leisurely ride.

This first shot I am directly over the Coors Brewery in Golden.

It isn't there!

Heresy I say!!!!!

That area must have been programmed by a Bud drinker.

It did a good job, I think, on the foothills. BTW the weather was downloaded from the net.

I think this stuff is looking pretty real - just past the foothills and still headed west.

I adjusted the view angle on this one so you wouldn't see the river running up the side of a mountain - it doesn't quite have all the rivers right.

Look to the right under the clouds and you can see the distant flatlands. It looks exactly like that.

Still climbing.

Look at the clouds down in the valley ahead.  ;D

This one is after I broke through the cloud cover. Am at 18,000ft.

This is not an arctic scene - this is mountain tops poking through the clouds.

Those are 12 - 14,000ft peaks.

I thought it might look good as a "Ride off into the sunset" pic.

What ya thunk bout it?

Very nice pictures mate.  Well worth the effort of installing the mesh I believe.

Nice Pics OSO. I saw a documentary on the Connie on Wings, It was called , "An Affair with Connie". Great little story about how this group of guys, (retired aviation nuts!!).. spent their weekends restoring this old Connie they found in some boneyard. It took them years, their own money and countless hours to rebuild her from the tiniest nut and bolt, to the biggest!!. It was pretty interesting to see them fire these 4 engines up for the 1st time. It was rebuilt here in America.  When they were done, they flew it back to Australia where it was greated with crowds of people!!
The said that they,..."wanted to bring Connie Home!!".
