;DStone me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby Smoke2much » Tue Mar 25, 2003 11:33 pm

I've just finished some nightshifts and I'm suffering from insane levels of insomnia.

October 14, 1947 reached Mach 1.06, 700 mph, at an altitude of 43,000 feet, over the Mojave Desert near Muroc Dry Lake, California for the X-1 under the command of Chuck Yeager.
And the Hindenburg was May 6, 1937 at NAS Lakehurst when it spontaneously combusted....
Interesting discovery Will, wonder what Orville and Wilbur would have said if you'd really landed next to them in a Harrier, probably **** me!

Ozzy ;D

I was sure that this wasn't spontaneous combustion, in fact I thought they had movie film evidence of a static discharge running along the length of the upper surface , as the Hindenburg was approaching ?.......anyone seen the talkies on it lately ?

Nice one Smoke. Next time you can't sleep maybe something equally amazing will turn up. ;)

As for the Hindenburg, I've seen many theories for the disaster over the years including sabotage. I think this is the most recent explanation.

I wonder if the early pioneering aviators realised how in so many ways, their inventions would affect the future generations?
