Never fear, I read that there are several more undergoing restoration to flight status  8-)

This one is owned by Jerry Yeagan...who is refusing to bring it to Oshkosh because EAA wont pay him for it.....even though NO ONE gets paid to go to Oshkosh!!!!!

From what I hear, the guy is a bit of an a-hole....so this Mossie might disappear into his private collection shortly after it does its tour this summer.

I certainly was. It was its last appearance in NZ, it will be on its way to the US by now.

On the flip side, it definitely will be going to the USA, he has spent several million US$ on its restoration, and as a businessman, I could see why he'd want to keep his rarest types in and around his Fighter Factory, which as a "private collection" is very public, as that way you'll get people making the effort to go and see them.

Just a shame it won't visit the land of its conception.

Rumour has it that it might be in the UK this coming season (can't say from whom I got this info), also there is one in Canada about to commence flight testing shortly.

I was referring more to how much it will fly. I have a feeling after its 'welcome home' tour it will be stuck in the hanger never to fly again or maybe just once a year. Planes are built to fly!

Ironically Kermit Weeks, an excellent aviator and owner of a fine collection, brought an airworthy Mosquito B.35 (TT.35) RS712 to the USA from the UK in the late 80s/early 90s...

...it hasn't flown since the early to mid 1990s, being loaned to the EAA museum as a thoroughly non flying exhibit (although it does appear at Oshkosh!).

Same can be said for his Lysander & Sunderland (although the latter is a slightly larger case). Both were flyers when exported, and haven't flown since.
