Lens Tuning

So...

I recently bought a Canon 50mm 1.4 USM to go on my T3i. I LOVE it, but at low apertures, autofocus puts the focus about 5-10 feet in front of my target (50 feet away), making the picture unusable about 40% of the time.

My question is, where do I go\send my camera off to get my camera\lenses adjusted?

I am assuming that you are in an auto setting. Does it also do the same thing when you use spot focusing. My Nikon D7000 sometimes gets it's knickers in a twist at low light low aperture settings and pulses back and forth trying to find focus. I then set to spot focusing and the problem ceases. Auto focus is good, but only to a point, you may have just come up against the light limits of the auto focus. Also if this is not the case, I would ask around at one of the thousands of dedicated Canon websites. The forums are full of people who (think) they know more than Canon themselves, certainly the case for the Nikon

I probably shouldn't have put low light, I just went outside to try again, and it's plenty bright, so it seems to be the AF. 

No, I'm using manual setings, so it is most definitely the lens\body.

Thanks for that Jared. Your little tip fixed a similar problem I've been having with a new lens on my 400D. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I use an ink rubber, a pencil rubber tends to leave a film behind. However be gentle, the ink rubber can be quite abrasive.

Does that one have an AF guide light? If not, open the flash but tell it not to use it for the picture
