Volmer Aircraft...VJ22

Postby Flying Trucker » Wed Apr 20, 2011 10:54 am

Good morning all... ;)

Found this Link which I hope some of you will find fascinating.

The aircraft engine can be configured as a "Tractor" or a "Pusher".... ;)

Cool! But every time I see one, I think of the Lake Buccaneer.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Hi Larry...thanks for the comment... :)

This is a Homebuilt compared to the Lake Buccaneer being factory manufactured.

As a family we built four sailboats (day sailors) and several flat bottom boats all made of wood during the winter months.
It gave us something to do while the children were at home.

I also think several of our daughters should have been boys... ;D

Several of our son's wanted us to build one of these Volmer Aircraft VJ22s but there just was not the time then.

Building a day sailor and building a flying aircraft are completely different.
I don't mind getting wet if the sail boat starts to sink, but, falling from any great height...no...no matter how fast and hard I flap my arms I keep falling.... ::)    ;D

Good evening all... :)

Forgot to add this little note:

In the above Link, third row down and center the aircraft is on skis... ;)

You do realize Doug, there is an image in there which I took myself.......
C-GHTY used to be based here at the Courtenay Airpark. I did get a couple of flights in it, with the owner/operator who by the way, was the last CO of Base Holberg here on the island......

Info here

Goodly morning all... :)

Thanks Ken, I read that article just the other day.
How was the noise level in that aircraft?

Larry...
Both the old girl and I had our own careers, she was home every night while I would get home maybe four straight days out of a month.
That was until I started flying out of Toronto all the time, then it was much easier to get home.

I used to be able to fly to Toronto which was a thirty five to forty minute flight and park our own aircraft at what was then called the MOT (Ministry of Transport) parking area.

All kidding aside Doug, you remind me of my dad!

He would have been 98 this year. Your kids were fortunate to have you and the Mrs.

I agree with Greg, and thanks for the story, I enjoyed reading it. :) Wish more people raised their kids like that these days.
