PPL lesson 2 - Straight and Level

Another gorgeous sunday, another brilliant lesson. Today's focus was on straight and level...sounds easy, but it's tricky....lots of PAT (Power Attitude Trim) going on, and getting it in the right order when your instructor puts the aircraft into a bizarre attitude is quite challenging ...Also did straight and level at slow speed with flaps deployed.

A couple of highlights were diving into a small cloud at a stupid angle of bank and almost hitting a seagull

I also made my first radio call....

Once again we had to hold to let a stream of cattletrucks land...they went on and on and on, which at least gave me some turning practice (and a chance to take a few snaps)...in the end we powered in between a couple of EZ A319s....which messed up the plans for me to fly the approach a bit, as we had to be speedy, so no time for flaps until over the threashold and touching down on the last marker

Looking at your photos, based on the panel clock, position of the sun and the smoke standing out from the stacks, was the surface wind out of the North - Northeast about 15-20 kts?

Not bad ....was variable between NNE and NNW, between 5-10 kts...any more than 15 and we wouldn't have been up (tommies don't like crosswinds )

Looking forward to your reports - Tomahawks were a bit after my CFI days so I've never laid a glove on one.
