i was lucky enough to go flying in the T-6 the other day and felt it was only right to show some pics.... a video will come soon and since i will be flying the PT-17 stearman next week expect some shots of that too

he let me do some basic stick time... Turning and holding straight flight... He had me doing turns at a 75 degree bank and it was amazing.

A day to remember, 75 degree turns, when you get that far over, your mind swears it is 90 and maybe more. A great experience to treasure

Look awful...heck no...looks good but I won't comment on the prop pull...have someone show you a safe technique.   ;)

Goodly morning...

The plastic owls supposedly keep the other birds from building their nest on the aircraft.

If you go to a bugsmasher field you will see them on top of the hangars or hanging on an aircraft prop.

Commercial and military airports have "Birdmen" who use birds of prey to attack, kill or scare away other birds.  They also use electric poppers which sound like a large gun going off to scare the birds away.

That is why it is very important to do an "A" check or walk around the aircraft looking for bird and insect nests prior to a flight.

The problem with the "rubber owls" is that it only spooks them a few times. Even a bird-brain realizes after a while that Mr. Owl seems incapable of movement, so he is no longer considered a threat. I've seen small birds perched right next to these things.

Seems to me it's a good idea to place the owl on a different part of the plane now and then, but I've never seen that.

You are right Sean...they need to be moved around but most folks place them in the same location each time.

Air Conditioning in the hangar with three speed reversible fans is the answer. 
Outside if anyone was overnighting we would block any intake with either the proper cover or foam rubber.

The owl thing never seemed to work for me, like a scarecrow in a seeded field the birds soon got used to it.
