Autumn landscapes

Postby Hagar » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:40 am

I felt like posting something so here goes. I went out yesterday to get some autumnal shots. Unfortunately most of the pretty leaves had been blown off the trees by the recent strong winds. That's nothing unusual for this part of the country.

These were taken in Parham deer park.

This is Stopham Bridge near Pulborough. It was built in 1423 & considered the finest example of a medieval bridge in Sussex. The central arch was raised in 1822 to allow masted ships access to the Wey & Arun canal further upriver.

We went for a walk on SUnday with a view to getting some landscape shots, but couldn't see anything inspiring that made for a good composition. I suspect that makes me a bad/lazy photographer, but I never seem to see the scenes that others seem to find.

These are nice Doug, plenty of gren leaves still to turn yet by the looks of it, should give you some more opportunities.

I especially like the last one, but I have a question about the bridge: how tall is that central arch? I can't figure out the scale, even though you mentioned about the masted vessels.  :-?
A very nice piece of masonry, built to last even when it's outdated.  ;D
