Grumpy all at sea

Postby Hagar » Thu Sep 17, 2009 3:46 am

Grumpy's tours takes to the briny. A sea trip from Worthing to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. This is our starting point. Worthing Pier early on Monday morning.

Here's our trusty mode of transport. The good ship PS Waverley. The owners claim she's the only ocean-going paddle steamer in the World.

Passing Portsmouth Harbour on our way to Yarmouth.

A USO (Unidentified Sea Object). Any guesses as to what it is?

On arrival at Yarmouth we board an open-topped tour bus. The stunning view of Alum Bay from the top deck of the bus.

This is the famous Needles.

A wonderful day out was had by all. 8-)

Cracking shots Doug! Wonderful!

Nr.4 seems to be a containership cought in a mirage, so you're missing part of the hull.

Lovely radar boat!

And Portsmouth seems to be envious of that building in Dubai. You know, the big hotel. I wonder wich one was build first!

Very nice doug....often see the Waverly in the Bristol channel :)

Nr.4 seems to be a containership cought in a mirage, so you're missing part of the hull.

+1....the spray off the waves refracts the light from higher up the ship making it look hull-less....

I have many memories of jazz and real ale cruises down the Clyde on the Waverley.

Doug do you have any pictures of the engine? ...... it's a work of art :)

What a gorgeous steamer  :o  This past year I have developed quite a fondness for watercraft, especially classics.  This one tops my charts so far  :)  And the needles shot grabbed my attention as well.

The USO shot just turns up as a picture of water with a city skyline to me so I couldn't guess what you were talking about.  Probably my browser.
