There was a Hornby brochure with the Star, describing it as a 'New' model, coming in 1974! So it's older than I am, and despite the damage I think that I'm the one now showing my age

Many happy hours playing with this one, be amazed if it still works, very well used condition!
I don't remember this one ever working, so maybe the damage wasn't my fault, it could have been broken before I even came along......at least that's the story I'm going to stick to
. You can see the tender wheels exposed, and the broken linkage expertly repaired with blu-tack
. The front con-rods are straight now at least and run into the pistons ok, I only ever remember the wheels being completely locked due to the damage. There are also supposed to be two wires going from the engine to the tender, as it is the main wheels that act as the pickup, these are broken, and the screw to attach the tender to the engine is also missing
