goodbye noble steed

Postby Craig. » Wed Jun 10, 2009 10:36 am

As some of you know already. My pride and joy, met its maker last night at the hands of a west midlands bus stop and the peanut behind the wheel. Suffice to say, powerful rear wheel drive car mixed with slippy roads dont mix well, and after a couple of near misses in the past, it finally bit and the rear end snapped on me. caught it one way, couldn't save it the second and borrowing an apt phrase from Martin Brundel, "I ran out of talent" just as my car went head first into said bus stop.

LOL, to imagine it now, think both front lights smashed up, the indicators smashed and hanging out. The side panels and doors dented, the bonnet crumpled up a bit, wing mirror drivers side ripped off. the front grill hanging out and front bumper smashed up. :D

Thats something I'm still looking into. Technically if the insurance company dont class it as a write off, I am free to take it off their hands. Unfortunatly it has both an oil leak and a fuel leak so those would need fixing anyway before anything else.
I think the damage is severe enough to be classed as a write off so I'm likely to end up with little to nothing from it.

Looking at auto trader, right now my best option may be a 1999-2001 3 series. Can pick those up for between 1 and 2 grand depending on the mileage. I know what I'm getting as far as reliability is concerned. Lesson learned as far as conditions go. I'd love a newer shape civic, but it's just out of my price range.

After all these years of abuse I think that Beryll finally decided that it was either you or her and just decided to take her chances  ;)

I told you that home made KERS system would be trouble.

Still, glad to see the peanut escaped unscathed. Have you thought about looking for a 5 series Craig?
