Cellphone aloft in the "Silver Bullet"

Postby beaky » Sun Oct 05, 2008 9:22 pm

No gliding today, as the Citabria is down for repair on its spinner, but I went out to the airport anyway to help JP and Kerry install the ballast holder in the 1-26 so "Grasshopper" can fly it once he solos (min. pilot weight is 146 lbs). Then the kid and I towed it back to its spot and squared it away.

My reward was a hop in the L-3, but I didn't take any pictures on that flight (which is too bad, as JP made a landing at Doyle's Farm nearby, a very interesting little strip there).

But before the day was through, Gus decided he'd take the RV-4 up for a hop, and I was standing there, so... ;D

While he was looking for some place he remembered, I eventually figured out how to increase the resolution on the phone camera, so the last few are pretty good.

You certainly found a little piece of paradise there & no mistake. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Must admit to being rather jealous.

LOL- no, that was a low-perf climbout for the RV-4, believe me. This phone sometimes doesn't quite "grab what it sees", and creates a distorted image.

Eh, don't be... you have Old Warden, etc.  I'd give up a RV-4 ride just to see some of the aircraft you get to see up-close on your trips to your local airfields.  ;)

But it has been a fun summer- I'm glad I haven't been flying rented Cessna, alone again because no friends were available to come along and share expenses, while these guys are having a blast gliding and flying the RV-4, Champ, L-3, Tiger and Breezy. Being part of a flying community is pretty satisfying, even without my own plane.

LOL!  ;D

Wonderful stuff Sean... Those pesky RV-4's always seem to escape me while spotting... They are airborn in mere seconds!  :o

Funky planes nontheless....

Not sure... not even sure where we were when I took that.

PS- get your butt up here some sunday before the season's over and you'll get a ride in something for sure. ;)
