Do they still pin those stripes on with a fist?

I remember the first time I got promoted; the commander pinned the rank on my collar, and then suprised me when he hit the rank insignia with his fist. After we were dismissed from formation, I pulled them out of my skin, leaving little blood spots on my tshirt...lol ;D

When I got my first promotion (and probably/hopefully last one), I had to ring up to tell the administrative powers that be. Just as well I did, as there were several of us who needed "promoting" on the system (particularly in terms of pay!).

That's British military admin for you. ;) ;D

Remember that when the grunts are acting up, you just enter the surf at a shallow angle and keep the back hatches open.  1812 here, the big guns of armor.  Those tuna boats are fun though, especially the first time you drop one off the back of a well deck too fast and go nose first 20 feet deep! ;)
