Old Geneseo stuff.........

Postby Rifleman » Tue Dec 02, 2008 2:53 am

From a few years ago, with all the talk about Antonovs and things, here are a few I shot before I left the east and headed out to the western paradise known as Vancouver Island..

First - the Antonov...

The C-119, much to my surprise, is pretty darn big, I saw my first one a few months ago out at Travis AFB, I will definately head back there to get some pics of the fine aircraft they have at their museum (a terrific museum they have there)

Beautiful shots, I love the Ant, the only Russian birds I ever see is the An-124 stationed here at Moffett Fed Field
Alienware X51_R2 (thank you wife) Windows 8.1, 6GB Ram, Intel Core i3-4150 CPU @3.50GHz

Nice shot of the glider under the C-119. Of course the C-119 was called the Flying Boxcar. I'm wondering if that's what wombat02 was thinking of in Sean's recent topic.

Geneseo seems a very odd place name. Can't say I've heard of it before. How do you pronounce that?

Close. It's closer to being and Me208, as it's a Nord Noralpha, which was developed from the prototype Me208s manufactured by the French. It's sister is the tail dragging Nord Pinguoin, which was basically a re-engined Bf108

Wonderful shots Ken... ;)

Did they not advertise a beer called "Genesee" or something along that line?  I haven't seen one of those beer commercials in years.   ;)

well this guy was rebuilding the antonov at the La Porte Municipal airporte (T41) and then hurricane IKE ran through and did its damage to it and it was a terrible sight to see when the owner of it came out to strip all the "usable" parts off of it. :'( What a shame
