The Kooks - live

Postby Omag 2.0 » Fri Nov 28, 2008 2:17 pm

Until the weather clears up and I have a free sunday afternoon for some spotting, you'll have to put up with me posting some of my latest music-work here...

Wednesday-night I had the opportunity to shoot the last gig of the Tour of The Kooks in Antwerp... Hectic shoot and lots of screaming girls, but it was fun!

Great shots Kris..........as usual. You have a real eye for these concert shots. One thing though, any chance you can put a small tag on your shots telling us what the exposure, aperture and DIN was. I realise that you will not want to give any trade secrets away, but I would love to come just within a couple of kilometers of these shots that you produce.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Uh-oh :-[ ;D

Great shots there Omag. I have a mate in Zurich who's seen them live, and he has given them a huuge recommendation. So they're on my "to see live" list

Well Matt, the technical site isn't a big secret to me and I more than happy to share my knowledge with whoever is interested... anyone can set up the equipment right. It's the composition and timing that takes real skill. And I'm still lacking in that department, compared to my photographer-hero's. You usually get about 3 songs to take your shots, so the pressure is on during a shoot and it can be stressy to get that perfect shot... but practice makes perfect they say, so I'll practice heaps more...  ;D

Anyway, the settings:

Canon 400D + Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and Sigma 70-200 f2.8

Iso 800 - f 3.5 - 1/200 to 1/160 - underexposing 1 to 1,5 stops...

There you go!  ;)

Yeeh...a lot of bands end up going downhill at the end of a tour. I can remember watching Red Hot Chili Peppers on tv when they played Reading Festival 2007...and you could clearly tell that a good solid year or more of touring was seriously taking its toll.

Juts gotta catch these bands at the right time really
