A Day at the Air Force Museum part 1

I took the family to the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum today, and I learned that taking screenshots in a sim is a LOT easier than taking a good photograph. It took me a while to learn how to use the flash so a good portion of the vintage section came out rather dark. I bet I took over 300 pictures while we were there! Made it even harder to decide which ones to post as these are indeed the first pictures I've ever taken outside of a flightsim. Any c&c would be helpful as I would like to return and get some of the ones I missed. We stayed from 10am to 5pm and never got to see it all! If you are interested in seeing a particular plane, I probably got a pic of it. Just let me know. I'll post some more as I sort through the huge mess I've made on my hard drive. Here a few of the better ones.

So, how does that B-36 look up close? Just ginormous?  8-)

It is easily the biggest thing I've ever seen! They have the bomb bay open and you can walk around under the aircraft standing up right, and I'm six foot tall! If it was any larger they couldn't fit it in the hanger.

My dad would tell me stories of when those would fly in and out of Lindbergh Field in San Diego. As a kid, he lived right near the airport. Said it felt like an earthquake every time one flew over! Man... I would have loved to experience that myself!

I bet it did! I got a picture of my kids standing next to the landing gear and the wheel is twice as tall as they are! They had a little plaque next to it saying they had to put smaller tires on the hubs so the tail section would clear the roof! After being next to it, I don't see how they ever got this beast in the air!

Take a tri-pod if you want to take good images inside where poor lighting may be a bit of bother.........I've been there and know the lighting is ok but you have to know how to deal with it..........Show more !.....XB-70 ?

Thanks for the comments, They had moved the XB-70 to the presidential hanger. That was the one I wanted pics of the most, but it was closing time by the time we finished going through all three main hangers. There are still alot more outside, a space section, and the presidential hanger where they keep the older airforce ones.
I agree Hagar, these are pretty big for the forum format, next set will be sized down, hopefully that will help with the compression, these are much clearer and crisp in original size.(300-400kb)
Thanks for the tripod idea Rifleman, I had WAY too much coffee that morning! my hands kept shaking at the last moment no matter what I did to stop them. The tripod would be perfect.
