Playing hooky at 47N

Postby beaky » Thu Oct 09, 2008 9:50 pm

I did actually feel a little piquish this morning when i called in sick (and I'd scored major Brownie points with a last-minute work call last night), but when Gus called to say they'd be flying today, I suddenly felt much better. ;D

Got two decent dual flights in myself- first real encounter with winds over 10 kts (in a glider); very interesting.

Had the little Canon with me as usual... and as usual 47N provided some subjects. Nice moon, too, as the afternoon wore on.

This Arrow was working the pattern...

First time I'd seen this Tri-Pacer moving, let alone flying.

Breezy partner Drew showed up in his work duds for a little "happy hour"...

...you ever get the feeling you were being followed...?

Gus and Jeremy on final in the 2-33...

Which was the last flight before his first solo!! Did a great job off a 1500-foot tow; very nice approach and landing.
We immediately launched him on another, after which he got congratulated and doused with water. And Gus cut his shirt... that's what happens to precocious 14-yr-olds around here...

Sounds like a hazing ritual at 47N, time to call CNN!!   >:(

Haha just kidding, sounds like a blast!!  Be sure to pass on to the new glider pilot how jealous I am, when I was 14 I was merely racing BMX and dreaming about flying, glad to hear he took his dreams a few steps further!!

Thought about popping over there yesterday. I went to a show in Sayreville so I'd have liked to, but I was just too busy.

Nice shots. The weather was fantastic yesterday. :)
